CD Projekt RED Loses Value Following Unsuccessful Release of Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty DLC

Expectations were high, but fell short: CD Projekt RED has seen a significant drop in value following the unsuccessful release of the Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty DLC. Despite receiving positive reviews, the DLC has only sold a total of 3 million copies. This disappointing DLC release, along with the disclosure of expenses (approximately $85 million on budget and marketing), has hit the value of CD Projekt RED.

Since the release of the DLC on September 25-26 (with shares ranging from 149.4 to 141.1 Polish zlotys, respectively), by October 6, the share price had dropped to 107.6 zlotys, marking nearly a third of the decrease.

Analysts warn that the high production and marketing costs imply that the DLC has not yet broken even. Furthermore, the drop in share value may indicate that investors are undervaluing the potential of future games.
