Dragon's Dogma 2 Shatters Its Own Record on Steam

Dragon's Dogma 2, the latest action RPG from Capcom, has outperformed its initial success on Steam, breaking its own record for concurrent players. After launching on March 22 with an impressive 184,000 simultaneous players, the game surged to a new peak of 227,000 players over the weekend, despite facing technical issues.

This surge places Dragon's Dogma 2 tantalizingly close to overtaking Monster Hunter: Rise, as it needs just 4,000 more players to claim the fourth spot among Capcom's largest Steam launches. Remarkably, the game has already surpassed the debut figures of major franchises like Resident Evil, Devil May Cry, and Street Fighter on the platform.

In addition to its commercial success, Dragon's Dogma 2 is gradually improving its standing with players. Although it launched with less than 40% positive reviews on Steam, the approval rating has climbed to 49%. This increase in player satisfaction comes as Capcom issued an apology for the PC version's frame rate issues and assured that efforts are underway to enhance performance. However, specific patches to address these problems have yet to be released.

As Capcom continues to navigate the game's early challenges, the steady rise in player numbers and improving reviews suggest a growing confidence in Dragon's Dogma 2's long-term success and its potential to become one of the company's flagship titles on Steam.
