Modder Doubles Steam Deck's RAM to 32 GB as Valve Plans Steam Deck 2

A modder known by the alias balika011 has successfully doubled the RAM of the original Steam Deck handheld PC to 32 GB, twice the official 16 GB.

The upgrade proved to be complex due to the device's soldered memory and unique construction. balika011 soldered the RAM onto the board and altered the BIOS to ensure the OS recognized the upgrade. He noted that he encountered no issues during the modification process.

Tests of the enhanced device have yet to be conducted, but it is anticipated that the RAM increase will boost gaming performance.

Meanwhile, Valve is already contemplating the release of a more powerful Steam Deck 2, though replacing other components in the current version might be much more challenging or even impossible due to specialized components.
