"Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart" Successfully Runs on PC Using HDD, But SSDs Provide Significant Performance Improvements

"Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart", initially developed as a PlayStation 5 exclusive, is now available for play on PC. According to testing performed by specialists at Digital Foundry, the game can operate on hard disk drives (HDD), but solid-state drives (SSDs) provide significant performance improvements.

On a PC with an HDD similar to the PlayStation 4 hard drive, the game became virtually unplayable during portal active sequences. On the other hand, using a more modern hard drive with a 7200 RPM spin rate, the game started and ran much better, although noticeable pauses still occurred during portal transitions.

The most impressive results were obtained using SSDs. Even on a budget PC with a SATA SSD, the game was much smoother than when using an HDD. Furthermore, the NVMe SSD Samsung 990 Pro on a powerful PC showed even better results, providing almost uninterrupted gameplay.

Overall, "Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart" has demonstrated stable operation on PCs, even on budget systems and systems using HDDs, but for optimal performance, the use of an SSD is recommended.
