Valve Urges Steam Deck Users Not to Inhale Device's Scent

Valve has issued a warning to Steam Deck owners, advising them against inhaling the scent emitted from the device’s air vents. Although the unique smell of the new device has become a topic of discussion and even a meme within the community, the developers strongly advise against it for health safety reasons.

Responding to a user inquiry, Steam’s support team clarified that, like all electronics, inhaling exhaust fumes from the device is generally not recommended. While there are no safety concerns with general usage, directly inhaling the vent fumes should be avoided.

Social media users have shared their delight over the Steam Deck's smell, comparing it to that of a new car or a fresh PlayStation 1 controller. Some have even called it "the best smell on Earth" and suggested creating a Steam Deck-scented air freshener.
