AMD Disappoints: Radeon RX 7900M in Alienware m18 Falls Short of Expectations

AMD unveiled its mobile gaming graphics card, the Radeon RX 7900M, featured in the Alienware m18 laptop. However, the initial test results are raising concerns. The promised outstanding performance seems to fall short, with the new GPU appearing to lag behind its competitor — the mobile GeForce RTX 4080. Despite the clear advantage of the Ryzen 9 7945HX processor, gaming benchmarks are not impressive, especially considering the advertised specifications.

Testing revealed that the Radeon RX 7900M is not as effective in games as expected, particularly in ray tracing scenarios. Drivers and content creation tool support also appear to be weak points. Connectivity issues with external monitors and various bugs further detract from the overall impression of the laptop.

The battery life of the Alienware m18 with the Radeon RX 7900M raises questions as well. The high power consumption of the GPU negatively impacts battery life, making the laptop less than ideal for those who value mobility. It seems that AMD was unable to fully realize the potential of its flagship mobile graphics card.
