AMD Responds to NVIDIA: Radeon RX 7900 XT Gets Price Drop to $749 US

AMD has strategically lowered the prices of its Radeon RX 7000 "RDNA 3" GPUs to effectively compete with NVIDIA's SUPER family. The initial adjustment is observed in the Radeon RX 7900 XT, which now carries a reduced MSRP of $749 US.

Radeon RX 7900 XT

The Radeon RX 7900 XT originally launched at $899 US and saw its first price cut to $849 US a few months ago. During Black Friday 2023, it was even available for less than $700 US in promotional deals. However, AMD has officially confirmed a new MSRP of $749 US, signaling a $100 US reduction from the previous $849 US.

This price adjustment is a strategic move by AMD to tackle the upcoming NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER, expected to have an MSRP of $799 US. The Radeon RX 7900 XT, with its 20 GB VRAM, aims to stand out in certain rasterized titles. This reduction is part of a "special promotional pricing program" for select retail outlets this quarter.

Various retailers, such as Newegg and Microcenter, are already reflecting these changes, with custom designs like Sapphire PULSE RX 7900 XT, XFX Speedster MERC310 RX 7900 XT, and others starting at $709 US. Microcenter even lists the PowerColor Hellhound variant at $699 US.

This move follows yesterday's coverage of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER's impressive performance at $599 US. With the competition intensifying, AMD's decision to lower the price of the RX 7900 XT might signal potential adjustments for the RX 7800 XT as gamers weigh their options based on the latest reviews.
