AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7995WX: The New Workstation Performance Champion

The latest AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7995WX processor has officially become the fastest workstation CPU to date, as demonstrated in the latest performance benchmarks.

The AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7995WX is the flagship model in the Threadripper 7000 family. This processor features 96 cores based on the Zen 4 core architecture, 192 threads, and clock speeds set at 2.50 GHz (base) / 5.15 GHz (boost). The chip offers 384 MB of cache and supports up to 128 PCIe Gen5.0 lanes, making it an incredibly powerful choice for workstation users. However, such impressive specs come at a price, with the 7995WX retailing for $9999.

Shortly after the recent announcement, PCMag published a preliminary performance review of the AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7995WX processor, featured in the Dell Precision 7875 laptop. This laptop is equipped with 512 GB of DDR5 ECC memory, dual NVIDIA RTX 6000 Ada GPUs, and Windows 11 Enterprise OS. When comparing the 7995WX processor to the Xeon W9-3495X, Threadripper PRO 5995WX, and Ryzen 9 7950X, the results were quite fascinating.

The most impressive performance was seen in the Cinebench R23 benchmark, where the AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7995WX processor turned out to be 56% faster than the Threadripper PRO 5995WX and 81% faster than the Xeon W9-3495X. The processor also easily completed a Blender rendering task in half the time it took the other two chips.

In addition, the processor's overclocking results were showcased, reaching an astonishing score of 148,719 points in the same test. The processor was overclocked to 4.4 GHz across all 96 cores, with power consumption peaking at 620W.
