AMD's Stealthy Addition: Hidden Latency Monitoring Tool in Latest Driver Update!

AMD's latest Adrenalin preview driver, version 23.30.01.02, quietly introduced a new latency monitoring tool for Anti-Lag+ supported titles. Discovered by CapFrameX on Twitter, this tool seamlessly integrates into the Adrenalin OSD, allowing users to easily track render lag on their systems.

Interestingly, this latency tool arrived alongside the update enabling AMD Fluid Motion Frames for RX 6000 series GPUs, but AMD didn't include it in the patch notes, keeping it somewhat under wraps.

This new latency monitoring feature helps gamers check the milliseconds of system latency their PCs experience in Anti-Lag+ supported games, ensuring smooth performance with preferred video settings. It's also handy for verifying AMD's Anti-Lag/Anti-Lag+ status and doesn't replace AMD's existing Frame Gen Lag monitoring utility in the OSD, offering users a dual monitoring approach.

According to CapFrameX, AMD's System Lag monitoring tool closely resembles Nvidia's render latency tool in the GeForce Experience OSD. Testing with Star Wars: Jedi Survivor (an Anti-Lag+ enabled title) revealed identical latency figures for both tools, suggesting similar measurement methodologies.

For now, this feature is exclusive to Anti-Lag+ titles and supported only in AMD's latest preview driver.
