DLSS and FSR Technologies: Performance Improvements at the Expense of Quality

The scaling technologies DLSS and FSR, developed by NVIDIA and AMD respectively, are touted as solutions for enhancing gaming performance. However, despite the promises, they fall short of the image quality offered by native resolution.

DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling) employs artificial intelligence algorithms for image scaling, which in practice, can lead to artifacts and loss of detail. On the other hand, AMD’s FSR (FidelityFX Super Resolution) also fails to provide native resolution level image quality, especially when performance-enhancing modes are activated.

Native resolution continues to be the gold standard for gamers valuing graphics quality. While scaling technologies might offer decent results on weaker hardware, they do not offer optimal image quality, making them less appealing for demanding users.

Purchasing a more powerful graphics card with ample video memory remains the best choice for those aiming for high-quality graphics in games. It's hard to expect that scaling technologies will replace native resolution without losing image quality in the near future.
