Intel's Arc A770 GPU Overclocked to Record-Breaking 3.5 GHz

Overclocker and enthusiast Skatterbencher has achieved a new record, pushing the Intel Arc A770 GPU to a staggering frequency of 3.5 GHz. This was done using a liquid nitrogen (LN2) cooling system and the ElmorLabs EVC2 device.

The key Arc A770 Limited Edition GPU from Intel was connected via a 90-degree PCIe adapter, and the GPU surface was shielded with double tape. This is needed to protect the "Alchemist" processor from the weight of the LN2 container, as the standard GPU LN2 cooling container was incompatible with the card.

The main limitations hindering the overclocking of Alchemist chips are fixed OC frequency, power limit, voltage limit, voltage throttle, and VRM temperature. Skatterbencher bypassed all these obstacles and managed to increase the frequency up to 3586 MHz at a voltage of 1.305V and a temperature of -50C. This state was maintained for just a few seconds before the GPU crashed. However, 3400 MHz at 1.285V was enough for light workloads, while 3100 MHz allowed for some 3DMark tests. In the end, Skatterbencher settled at 3012 MHz at 1.12V and a temperature of -30C, as these parameters provided stable performance in all 3DMark benchmarks.
