Intel's New Core i7-14700K Shows Near-Flagship Performance in Raptor Lake Refresh Family

As Intel's next-generation flagship processors with boost clocks of 6.0 GHz and 6.20 GHz are on the horizon, details have emerged regarding the new Core i7-14700K chip. This upcoming processor, part of the Raptor Lake Refresh family, is set to offer performance closely trailing the current flagship, Core i9-13900K.

Tests conducted by a Chinese reviewer on a pre-production sample have demonstrated that the new Core i7-14700K outperforms its predecessor in games and multi-threaded tasks by 14-20%. This performance boost is attributed to its configuration of eight high-performance Raptor Cove cores and 12 energy-efficient Gracemont cores.

As a result, the performance difference between the premium Core i9 chips and the more moderately priced Core i7 CPUs will likely be negligible in most instances.
