Memory Boost from 6GB to 16GB Achieved on RX 5600 XT by Brazilian Modders

A team of Brazilian engineers has achieved a significant breakthrough by modifying the AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT, increasing its memory from the original 6 GB to 16 GB. This enhancement included expanding the memory bus from 192-bit to 256-bit, a task previously considered technically challenging due to BIOS limitations.

Applying specialized knowledge, the team introduced a hexadecimal code into the firmware, activating the unused memory controllers. Following several tests and the application of a BIOS from Gigabyte, the video card's performance increased by 11%, and further overclocking led to a total performance boost of 29% over the original specifications.

This experiment not only demonstrated the potential for unlocking hidden capabilities in hardware but also opened new avenues for enhancing the performance of video cards, bringing the RX 5600 XT closer to newer market models in terms of capabilities.
