Intel Arrow Lake-S Desktop CPUs Projected to Deliver 21% Performance Boost with Same 250W TDP

Intel Arrow Lake S

Intel is gearing up for an Innovation event scheduled for September 19th, where details on the Arrow Lake-S Desktop CPU lineup are expected. The series, planned for a late 2024 release, will be supported by LGA 1851 socketed motherboards within the 800-series family.

Earlier, in October 2023, the refreshed Intel Raptor Lake-S CPUs are slated to hit the market, compatible with existing LGA 1700 socketed motherboards within the 600 and 700-series lineups.

According to Intel's projections, the Arrow Lake-S CPUs could deliver a performance gain of up to 21% over the current Raptor Lake chips, while maintaining a thermal design power (TDP) of 250 Watts.

This boost will be a substantial advantage over the Raptor Lake-S Refresh Core i9-14900K processors, which promise less than a 5% performance boost.

Intel's strategy entails having a competitive edge against AMD's next-gen Zen 5-based Ryzen 8000 CPUs, expected to see a 20-25% performance uplift from Intel.

Significantly, the Intel Arrow Lake-S is not only set to enhance CPU performance, but also dramatically increase integrated GPU (iGPU) performance, thanks to the incorporation of the latest Alchemist GPU architecture. This could be particularly relevant for laptops and mini PCs.
