NVIDIA Reveals Performance Figures for GeForce RTX 4060

NVIDIA has officially released test results for its new GeForce RTX 4060 graphics card just a week before the official launch on June 29th. Based on the cutting-edge Ampere architecture, this graphics card delivers impressive performance. However, there is one key feature that you should pay attention to: the main advantages of the card are manifested when using the AI frame generation function. According to NVIDIA, without activating this feature, the card's performance increases by only 20%.

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 graphics card is based on the AD106 GPU, which includes 3072 CUDA cores. Its peak compute performance in FP32 format is 15 TFLOPS, which is 15% higher than the previous model GeForce RTX 3060 with its 13 TFLOPS in FP32 format. In addition, the AD106 shows significant gains over the GA106, especially in ray tracing (+40%) and tensor computing (+137%). These capabilities enable the card to be used for AI, DLSS 3 advanced zooming, and AI-enabled imaging. Thanks to these innovations, the new video card becomes one of the best on the market.

NVIDIA is supposed to have balanced the AD106 microarchitecture with the benefits of DLSS 3 and AI imaging in order to outperform its competitors and previous graphics cards in terms of gaming performance.

Not surprisingly, NVIDIA has demonstrated the GeForce RTX 4060 with DLSS 3 and AI imaging enabled in a variety of games, showing a significant performance improvement over the GeForce RTX 3060. This is indeed a major improvement for the new graphics card. The GeForce RTX 4060 is capable of delivering high frame rates and unlocks the full potential of the latest games, which the GeForce RTX 3060 cannot offer.

The company acknowledges that not all games support AI frame generation. In such cases, the GeForce RTX 4060 delivers only a 20% performance boost over the previous model. While a 20% improvement is significant, some users may not think it's enough progress for a next-generation product based on a completely new architecture.

However, NVIDIA is also highlighting the advantage of the lower power consumption of the GeForce RTX 4060. This allows for some energy savings when using the graphics card. Although this benefit is less obvious because users are usually more interested in performance gains, it is still an added benefit.

Leading graphics card manufacturers such as Asus, Colorful, Gainward, Galax, Gigabyte, Inno3D, KFA2, MSI, Palit, PNY, and Zotac will launch the GeForce RTX 4060 starting June 29th. NVIDIA's suggested price is $299 per card, however actual prices may vary by model and manufacturer.
