Analysts at Jon Peddie Research have released alarming data showing a sharp decline in video card sales in the first quarter of 2023.

At the start of 2023, desktop GPU sales were just 6.3 million units. This is 12.6% less than the previous quarter and almost 40% lower than in the first quarter of 2022. Such a drop has not yet been observed over the past 18 years, even during periods of "cryptocurrency hangover", when the demand for video cards was significantly reduced.

A large share of sales during this period was taken by NVIDIA, which was able to sell 5.29 million video cards. This allowed the American manufacturer to control about 84% of the desktop graphics accelerator market. In second place in terms of sales is AMD, which sold about 760,000 video cards and secured a market share of 12%. Closes the top three Intel, whose sales amounted to 250,000 graphics processors, which increased its market share to 4%.
