Sabrent Tests Performance of New Rocket X5 SSD with Promised 14GB/s Read Speed

Sabrent, the manufacturer of solid state drives, confirms progress in the development of its new Rocket X5 SSD with a promised 14 GB/s read speed. The company is even reporting a push to achieve even higher numbers to outperform the best SSDs available on the market.

In CrystalDiskMark tests, Sabrent's Rocket X5 prototype showed a sequential read speed of 14,179 MB/s and a sequential write speed of 12,280 MB/s. While random performance was 1.56 million 4K IOPS read and 1.669 4K IOPS write, comparable to enterprise SSDs.

This result surpasses the Samsung PM1743 PCIe 5.0 x4 SSD, which in 2021 showed a throughput of about 13.8 GB / s with an Intel Alder Lake processor.

Future plans include name, label and heatsink changes, and the company is experimenting with different thermal solutions to cool the new SSDs. The company claims that a special thermal solution is now used and its fan does not produce high-frequency noise.
