Release Date : Q1 2015
Genre : Realistic open world first person medival RPG
Developer : Warhorse Studios
Publisher : Warhorse Studios

The game that we want to introduce you to today is a little known but very interesting project, namely Kingdom Come: Deliverance - a first-person open-world RPG from the recently founded Warhorse developer studio.  The studio employs about 30 people who have collaborated with each other on numerous occasions in the past and have worked on games such as Mafia , Mafia 2 , ArmA , Operation Flashpoint , Crysis 3 and Forza Horizon. The main reason for the little-known project is that there is no support from major publishers, all funds come from private individuals on Kickstarter and an unknown investor.

Events in the game Kingdom Come: Deliverance unfold in the Kingdom of Bohemia, part of the Land of the Bohemian crown in our time is the Czech Republic. The first act takes place in a real-life location between Sazawa City and Rettey City, which have been heavily modified in the game. The events take place at the end of the Middle Ages in 1403, when the Great Western Schism took place and the events that took place in Bohemia subsequently ended with the Hussite Wars.

 Game process

The developers promise interesting dialogues in which the time to choose a phrase will be limited, and non-linear tasks with many solutions and significant consequences. A former blacksmith will be able to turn into a well-protected knight, a clever thief or a bard, able to convince others that he is right. However, he will not lose the skill of forging weapons, and will also learn how to cook food, brew potions and mine silver ore. All "crafting" is designed in the form of mini-games, and not just boring "soulless" menus. The detailing in Kingdom Come: Deliverance is generally impressive - you will not only have to regularly feed the hero and put him to bed, but also make sure that the provisions in the knapsack do not deteriorate. There are 16 cells for armor here, and you can put it on in 4 “layers” at once. Recently in a diary, the developers of Kingdom Come promised that soon there will beshows the gameplay of the project . They not only did not disappoint, but also presented a whole hour of gameplay. The video demonstrates the dialogue system, character customization, crafting, horseback riding, battles and much more.

open world

The area of the world that will be available in Kingdom Come: Deliverance initially is noticeably inferior to the same Skyrim - only nine square kilometers against forty-eight. These spaces will fit a large city, several castles, dozens of villages and farms, mines, dungeons and dense forests. Travel between them will be allowed both on foot and on horseback. At the same time, life around will go on as usual: the time of day changes, and the inhabitants play the roles assigned to them in the communities. One of the main problems of open world games is the artificial intelligence of NPCs, which must create the illusion of real life. Special for Kingdom Come: Deliverance the developers decided to approach the creation of the AI system from scratch, trying to make the behavior of the characters as realistic as possible. The new part of the Kingdom Come: Deliverance developer video diary is devoted specifically to the issue of artificial intelligence. The principle of its work is described in detail, which allows you to assign a behavior model to the NPC, on the basis of which he himself will make decisions about what to do. The theme of quest characters is also touched upon. Unlike many RPGs, they will not stand in a specific location - the player will need to find a person moving around the settlement depending on the time of day.

 Combat system

During the announcement of Kingdom Come: Deliverance, the developers promised a combat system that was very advanced, historically accurate, related to game physics and at the same time easy to learn, using the full range of medieval weapons. Now the developers are ready to demonstrate what they promised in their video diary.

The fourth part of the video diary Kingdom Come: Deliverance is entirely devoted to the combat system. Using game mechanics, you can inflict different types of blows on certain parts of the enemy's body. Naturally, there is also a block, and success in a fight largely depends on the reaction. In view of this, fighting more than one opponent is quite difficult - in this case, special skills can come in handy, but it is preferable to engage in battles with a superior number of opponents in the company of comrades. Endurance will also be an important factor in battles. For example, fighting a heavily armored opponent may require you to exhaust your opponent, after which you can land critical hits. The developers separately focus on the fact that Kingdom Come: Deliverance is a role-playing game where the hero gradually becomes stronger. fencing leveling,

Supported OS and graphics API

WarHorse plans to release Kingdom Come: Deliverance on all major platforms of PC, Mac, Linux and next generation consoles Playstation 4, Xbox One. Since the game is being developed on the CryEngine 3 engine, presumably the minimum

operating systems of the Microsoft family will be Windows XP SP2, Windows Vista SP1 or SP2, and the recommended ones will be
Windows 7 and Windows 8 bit system 32-bit or 64-bit.

Complete the game in 70 hours. Versions for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 will follow at a later date. However, the authors promise to release an early alpha version of the game in six months. Those who pay £25 will be able to access it. For £20 they will be allowed into the "beta", and the minimum deposit required to purchase the first episode is £15.

Game engine

The technical basis of the project Kingdom Come: Deliverance will become the cross-platform CryEngine 3 engine. This is a powerful set of tools that works on all major platforms and allows the developer to focus on the game, and not bother with the technical part. CryEngine has been used to create ped trilogies like Crysis and Ryse. Plenty of macro and micro details, unlimited viewing distance, HD textures for all objects, a whole world without additional downloads - this is not a complete list of what CryEngine can provide. In addition, WarHorse is developing their own in-game content creation tools including game design, animations, dialogue, certain clothing, and plans to release these tools to the community. WarHorse also works closely with the developers of Star Citizen, sharing their experience and secrets of working with the engine.

Kingdom-Come-cryEngine3

CryEngine 3 was officially announced on March 11, 2009, and on October 14, 2009 the official release of the engine took place. The first game to be announced to use CryEngine 3 is Crytek's first-person shooter Crysis 2. At the end of March 2010, in an interview with GameReactor magazine, Cevat Yerli said that the developers from Crytek had to face a number of problems when developing CryEngine 3 for consoles: “The most difficult process was the process of scaling CryEngine 3 for consoles while maintaining image quality and the proper level of performance. Of course, there were problems, but we are very proud that our team managed to overcome them.”

Crysis 2SP

Shaders in CryEngine 3 are written once in a high-level programming language, and then automatically compiled for each platform. Shader output is optimized through artist settings and for the 3D environment in which the shader will be used. Thanks to this, it becomes possible to create such effects as: “invisibility effect”, wet, dirty and frozen surfaces, which can be “layered” one on top of the other and combined with other shaders that simulate effects such as metal, glass and others.

CryEngine 3 supports per-pixel real-time lighting, reflections, refractions, volumetric heat effects and animated textures to simulate windows, bullet holes, sun glare surfaces and many other effects. CryEngine 3 shaders use the unified shader architecture that has been available since Direct3D 10.

Crysis-3-

"Ubershader" is a single shader program with many features: one to four lights, light types, specular cubemaps, fog, detailed textures, normal maps, specular textures, and more. Millions of Ubershader combinations can be generated. Ubershader uses dynamic branching, splitting into multiple passes, reducing combinations, and accepting options with less functionality and lower performance requirements. Uses asynchronous shader compilation and a distributed job system to compile the shader cache.

Gameplay video

Below we publish directly the video of the gameplay from the official website and the video of the  Kingdom Come: Deliverance developer diary.

Judging by the videos of the gameplay, given by the developer, a rather high-quality and large-scale project awaits us ahead, which will certainly interest all RPG fans. And if everything in the game is as the developers describe and demonstrate, then Kingdom Come: Deliverance will leave a lot of impressions and indescribable emotions from battles, landscapes, a world open to life and just gameplay.
Estimated system requirements

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS FOR GAMEGPU "Kingdom Come: Deliverance"

 Effective  Optimal

Processor:  4-core, Intel Core i 5 2600K or 8-core  AMD FX-8150

RAM: 6 gigabytes

Video Cards: NVidia GTX 770 or AMD Radeon R9 280

Video memory: 2048 megabytes

Processor:  6-core, Intel Core i7-3930K or 8-core  AMD FX-9370

RAM: 6 gigabytes

Video Cards: NVidia GTX 780 Ti or AMD Radeon R9 290X

Video memory: 3076 megabytes

Based on the above material, we draw some conclusions. Since the game is based on CryEngine 3 and has open measures, we can conclude that it will be very processor dependent. Apparently, for a comfortable game, at least eight computing threads will be required (provided that the developers have "direct hands"). Also, the game will need about 6 gigabytes of RAM in the system for the smoothness of the process, but it is unlikely that it will require more.

Well, if you think about the graphics subsystem that will be needed for Kingdom Come: Deliverance, then in our opinion, video cards starting from the level of NVidia GTX 770 or AMD Radeon R9 280 will be able to provide sufficient performance. Optimal performance, taking into account all activated maximum settings, can be expected from NVidia GTX 780 Ti or AMD Radeon R9 290X. Although, judging by the videos presented, the developers themselves have performance problems, so it is quite possible that only the next generation of video cards will be able to fully cope with the game.
