A GAME |
"Unholy" is a unique game project that combines elements of psychological horror, an intriguing storyline and modern graphics. The events of the game take place on a dying planet, in the Last City of which the main character Seyda lives. She goes in search of her missing child, trying to survive among the horrors of pestilence and hostile characters.
"Unholy" invites players to explore two parallel worlds. The first is the grim, cold reality of an inhospitable town in a post-Soviet Eastern European city. The second is a twisted, terrifying, unholy world inhabited by grotesque creatures and ruled by ruthless priests. This binarity creates a unique space for deep storytelling, allowing players to understand Seida's drama and thereby empathize with her tragedy.
During the game, users will have the opportunity to explore both worlds, solve various puzzles, and make decisions about how to treat enemies: hide or fight them. This confrontation of nightmarish power becomes a central element of the gameplay.
The game "Unholy" was developed on the Unreal Engine 4, which is recognized as one of the most advanced and versatile game engines of our time. This engine is extremely flexible and powerful, allowing you to create complex, detailed and visually impressive game worlds.
Unreal Engine 4 has support for C++ programming, providing developers with ample opportunities to implement the most daring and unique game ideas. In addition, the engine has a Blueprints visual scripting system, thanks to which even without direct coding, complex game mechanics can be implemented.
Of particular note is that Unreal Engine 4 uses modern rendering and lighting technologies, providing high quality graphics. "Unholy" uses NVIDIA's DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling) technology to increase resolution and image quality using artificial intelligence to improve performance and reduce GPU load.
The game also has a frame rate cap of 180 FPS, which guarantees smooth and crisp gameplay even on the most powerful systems.
Unreal Engine 4 is also highly scalable and supports a wide variety of platforms, including PCs, game consoles, and mobile devices. Thanks to this, "Unholy" can be enjoyed by players on various platforms and devices.
All in all, Unholy is an intriguing and visually impressive game that harnesses the power of Unreal Engine 4 to create a unique gaming experience. The game promises to throw players into a world full of horror and mystery, where every decision can have far-reaching consequences.
DIFFERENT QUALITY MODES |
To achieve maximum performance and quality of gameplay, most games, including "Unholy", provide players with the ability to change graphics settings. The differences between the maximum and minimum settings can be quite significant. Here are some of the main settings that can usually be changed:
-
Resolution : On the minimum settings of the game, the screen resolution is usually reduced to improve performance. At maximum settings, players can enjoy the game in high definition, up to 4K or even higher.
-
Textures : On the lowest settings, textures are usually lower quality, which reduces the load on the GPU. At maximum settings, the textures become more detailed and realistic.
-
Model Detail : At maximum settings, character and environment models will have a higher level of detail. At minimum settings, the models become simpler, which also reduces the load on the GPU.
-
Lighting and shadows : Lighting and shadow settings can also vary a lot. At maximum settings, the lighting becomes more realistic, including effects such as soft shadows, reflections and sparkle. On the lowest settings, these effects are usually disabled or simplified.
-
Post-processing effects : These can be various effects such as depth of field, motion blur, bloom, and others. On the lowest settings, these effects are usually disabled to improve performance. At maximum settings, they add additional visual appeal to the game.
It is important to note that the exact settings may vary depending on the specific game and the engine it is based on. In addition, the choice between maximum and minimum settings often depends on what kind of hardware is used to play the game. If the hardware cannot provide a comfortable game at maximum settings, players can select lower settings to improve performance.
BUG WITH MEMORY |
The game "Unholy" when loading levels, unfortunately, encountered an unpleasant problem associated with improper video memory management. Instead of effectively using the available video memory, the game loads much more data into it than it really needs, which can result in the video memory being overloaded.
On a machine with an RTX 4090 graphics accelerator, the VRAM consumption jumps to 22 gigabytes at boot level, which is clearly beyond the usual requirements for most games. Some time later, after the level is loaded, the consumption of video memory decreases and stabilizes at about 5 gigabytes.
However, if there is not enough video memory, for example, on video cards with 8 gigabytes, the game switches to using RAM. It takes a couple of minutes to normalize. And so when loading each new location ..
We can also observe poor optimization of the game for NVIDIA video cards in 4K in the game: as we see in 2K mode, the power consumption of the 4080 is 340 watts, and in 2K 236 watts.
