Diablo 4 Faces Crisis: Declining Interest, Player Dissatisfaction, and First Season Issues
All is not well for Blizzard's Diablo 4. The game, which became the company's fastest-selling ever, earning $666 million in its first five days and attracting over 10 million players in its first month, now faces significant hurdles.
Viewership for the game on Twitch plummeted by 98% within three weeks, down to a mere 13,000 daily viewers, while Overwatch 2 and World of Warcraft: Dragonflight's expansion continue to draw between 23,000 and 60,000 viewers two months post-launch.
The situation with Diablo 4's first season was compounded by player dissatisfaction, who complained about "malicious design" that allowed accidental activation of a premium battle pass and accused Blizzard of getting almost everything wrong. The game's user rating hit rock bottom in its first week.
Blizzard promises "multi-year support," but early signs suggest the path ahead may be a challenging one.
