Microsoft Gaming Appoints Jill Braff as ZeniMax Head Following Bobby Kotick's Departure

Following Bobby Kotick's departure on December 29, 2023, Microsoft Gaming has initiated significant changes, with Phil Spencer previously discussing the impending organizational restructuring. A key move in this reshuffle is the appointment of Jill Braff as the new head of ZeniMax, signifying a strategic shift in game management.

Jill Braff brings a wealth of experience in the gaming industry to her new role at Microsoft Gaming. Her diverse career includes online marketing and business roles in Ellen DeGeneres' show, as well as positions at Nintendo, Sega, Glu Mobile, Home Shopping Network, and Warner Bros. Her multifaceted background in various segments of entertainment content makes her an ideal fit to lead ZeniMax/Bethesda.

In her new role, Braff will oversee the game development teams at ZeniMax/Bethesda, which will continue to operate as separate organizations with limited integration. She will also supervise the Microsoft Casual Games team. Under her leadership, industry veterans like Todd Howard, Todd Vaughn, Matt Firor, Paul Jensen, and Heather Cooper will report to her.

This appointment follows the departure of Bobby Kotick on December 29, 2023, after which Microsoft Gaming began to undergo extensive changes. Matt Booty, previously responsible for content and all gaming studios - Activision Blizzard King, Xbox Game Studios, ZeniMax - has now delegated part of his responsibilities to Jill Braff.

Jill Braff's appointment as the head of ZeniMax/Bethesda at Microsoft Gaming reflects the company's strategy to develop its gaming portfolio and strengthen its position in the industry. This move is a testament to Microsoft's commitment to evolving its gaming division and enhancing its offerings in the gaming world.
