Ascendant Studios today officially announced the delay in the release of its debut game, the magical first-person shooter Immortals of Aveum. CEO Bret Robbins conveyed a message from the team, expressing excitement about the public's anticipation and reaction to the game, but also stated that more time is needed to finalize the game and optimize it for all platforms, including PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S.

A new release date has been set for August 22, delaying the release by almost a month from the original scheduled July 20 date. This puts Immortals of Aveum in competition with other major releases such as FromSoftware's Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon (releases August 25th), Larian Studios' Baldur's Gate III (releases August 31st), and Bethesda's Starfield (releases September 6th, early access starting September 1). While all of these games represent different genres and types of gaming experience, they are highly anticipated releases from established developers, unlike Ascendant Studios' Immortals of Aveum.

However, the game promises to be impressive, which was unveiled at the Summer Game Fest 2023 event, and also runs on the powerful Unreal Engine 5.1 game engine. Immortals of Aveum will be one of the first games to take advantage of technologies such as Lumen global illumination and Nanite virtualized geometry. The official PC system requirements from the studio are high, but it is possible that they will be lowered after further optimization of the game.

In terms of gameplay, the developers have confirmed that Immortals of Aveum will have a Call of Duty-style campaign, but with a significantly longer duration. The game is expected to span over 25 hours of play time, excluding additional content, which will be presented in the form of a metroidvania, where players will have to return to previously completed areas after acquiring new abilities in order to progress through exploration and puzzle solving.

For more on the details of the game, check out an interview with executive producer Kevin Boyle. Immortals of Aveum is available for pre-order now, and all pre-order versions come with a bonus - a unique blue symbol called Purified Arclight. This glyph amplifies the power of the blue Strike spells and the protagonist's Shatter Fury spell.

While the postponement of the release of Immortals of Aveum causes some inconvenience and puts the game in front of strong competition, fans of the series can be sure that Ascendant Studios is working hard to provide a quality and immersive gaming experience. The game promises to impress gamers not only with its Unreal Engine 5.1-powered aesthetics and graphics, but also with its gripping storyline and innovative gameplay. Soon, players will be able to embark on an exciting journey through the world of Immortals of Aveum and uncover its secrets by fighting in exciting battles and exploring various locations.
