Palworld: Steam's New Sensation Surpasses Dota 2 Amidst Plagiarism Claims
Palworld, a survival simulator blending crafting elements, has stormed Steam, surpassing 5 million sales with a peak online count of 1.5 million players, outdoing even Dota 2. Such figures were previously seen only by Counter-Strike 2 and PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS.
However, Palworld's success is shadowed by plagiarism accusations. Players have noted similarities between the game's collectible monsters, known as "Pals", and Pokemon characters. Despite potential legal disputes with Nintendo, PocketPair studio head Takuro Mizobe assures that the game underwent all necessary legal checks before its launch.
"We respect intellectual property and would never infringe upon it. Palworld is more akin to ARK: Survival Evolved than to Pokemon," states Mizobe.
Developers continue to enjoy the game's success, anticipating further sales growth thanks to positive reviews and recommendations. Palworld's average approval rating stands at 92%.
