Piranha Bytes in Search of a Lifeline Amid Closure Rumors

German video game developer Piranha Bytes, known for creating Gothic and Elex, confirmed they are facing challenging times but are actively seeking partnerships to secure their future. Amid recent rumors about the potential closure of the studio, owned by Embracer Group, an official statement from Piranha Bytes has emerged.

"We acknowledge the difficulties but remain determined to find partners to continue our work. Don’t count us out yet," the studio's statement reads.

German media reports suggested that Embracer Group considered selling Piranha Bytes, but failed to find buyers. However, THQ Nordic, also part of the holding, insisted on giving the studio more time to find partners.

It's important to note that the current struggles of Piranha Bytes will not affect the development of the Gothic remake, which is being handled by Spanish studio Alkimia Interactive. Piranha Bytes continues its operations, focusing on strengthening its position in the gaming industry, particularly in the PC platform sector.
