Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart: PC Version with DirectStorage 1.2 and XeGTAO Support to Launch on July 26th

The much-anticipated PC version of the popular action-platformer Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is set to launch on July 26th. In their official blog, the game's developers, Insomniac Games, shared exciting details about this upcoming release.

The main focus of the PC version is scalability for various systems and graphical presets. While the game can operate on HDD with minimum settings, the developers recommend using an SSD along with recommended or higher hardware specifications for the best gaming experience.

The game incorporates support for DirectStorage 1.2 technology, enabling fast background loading of high-quality textures and highly detailed environments via GPU decompression at high graphics settings. This will ensure smooth transitions between dimensions in the game.

In addition to ray tracing for reflections and shadows, players will be able to activate the use of ray tracing for object shading with indirect lighting. The game also supports XeGTAO, Intel's proprietary method of ambient shading. While it doesn't provide the same level of realism as RTAO, it operates on all GPUs and is less demanding on the system, comparable in effectiveness to HBAO+.

All these innovations promise to make the PC version of Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart a very attractive option for players. Soon we'll find out how well they've managed to meet this goal.
