SEGA Restructures: Sells Relic Entertainment and Cuts Jobs at Creative Assembly

SEGA is undergoing significant organizational changes, affecting its subsidiaries. Alongside job cuts at Creative Assembly and Hardlight studio, SEGA announced the sale of Relic Entertainment, the developer behind Company of Heroes and Dawn of War. A total of approximately 240 employees at Creative Assembly have been laid off, while a "small number" at Hardlight faced job reductions.

The decision to sell Relic Entertainment was facilitated by external investors, enabling the studio to continue as an independent developer. This move will allow Relic to focus on updates and support for its existing projects, including the development of the third installment in its real-time strategy series.

Despite the reshuffling, a SEGA representative assured that the development plans for upcoming projects remain unchanged. Specifically, Creative Assembly is proceeding with the next Total War game and another unannounced project. Studios responsible for Football Manager and Two Point Hospital were unaffected by these changes.
