Sony PlayStation Project Q Leak: Android OS Confirmed

Recently, leaked images have offered the first "live" look at the PlayStation Project Q, a portable gaming streaming system for PlayStation 5 announced in May.

The leak seems to originate from China. Among the uploaded snapshots are images of the device's internal components in a disassembled state, without the screen. However, more importantly, there is also a video showcasing a working version of the device, confirming that Android is used as its operating system.

Sony has yet to officially reveal what operating system Project Q will run on. What's known is that the device will feature an 8-inch touch LCD screen with a split gamepad on either side. It will be capable of remotely streaming games from a PlayStation 5 using Remote Play over Wi-Fi.

The Project Q device can stream games at 1080p at 60 frames per second, and the built-in controllers will have all the buttons and capabilities of the DualSense, including adaptive triggers and haptic feedback. According to insider Tom Henderson, PlayStation Project Q will have a battery life of 3-4 hours and is set to launch in November this year.

The use of Android theoretically also allows for the launch of other cloud services, such as GeForce Now and Xbox Cloud Gaming.
